Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 28, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Guidelight AI Standards, a nonprofit corporation ("Guidelight," "we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, and shares information in connection with the "Pacing the Frontier" open letter website (the "Site") and the related signature process.
The Site is available at https://www.pacingthefrontier.com/.
Information We Collect
Information You Submit Through the Google Form
The Site links to a Google Form through which eligible individuals may ask to add their signatures to the open letter. If you submit the form, we receive the information you provide. Depending on the fields shown on the form, this may include:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your professional title
- Your organizational affiliation
- Any statement, comment, or other information you choose to submit
- Your choices about how your information should appear publicly, if the form provides such choices
Please do not submit information that the form does not request or that you do not want us to process for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
Public Signatory Information
The purpose of signing the open letter is to express support publicly. If your signature is accepted, the information identified on the Google Form as public may be displayed on the Site. This may include your name, professional title, organizational affiliation, and any statement or comment you choose to submit for publication.
We do not publish your email address. We use it to administer the signature process, which may include reviewing or verifying your submission, communicating with you about it, and responding to correction or removal requests.
If the Google Form gives you the option to withhold your name or otherwise limit what is displayed, we will use the option you select.
Information displayed publicly may be viewed, copied, quoted, archived, or redistributed by other people. If you ask us to remove your signature, we will remove it from the Site within a reasonable period. We cannot retrieve or delete copies that third parties made while the information was publicly available.
Communications With Us
If you contact us by email or another method, we may collect your contact information and the contents of your communication so that we can respond and maintain an appropriate record of the request.
Site Analytics and Technical Information
We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand general activity on the Site. The analytics information available to us may include page views, referring pages, approximate geographic location, browser type, operating system, and device type.
Vercel Web Analytics does not use cookies and is designed not to track individuals across websites. Vercel may process technical request information, including an IP address and user-agent information, to provide privacy-preserving analytics, but Vercel Web Analytics does not make your IP address available to us.
Vercel also hosts the Site and may process standard technical information necessary to deliver, secure, and troubleshoot it. More information is available in Vercel's Privacy Notice and Vercel's Web Analytics privacy documentation.
Google Forms
The signature form is hosted by Google rather than on the Site. A normal link to the form does not cause Google to set cookies through the Site. When you follow the link and use the form, however, your browser connects directly to Google. Google may then collect technical, device, account, and activity information and may use cookies or similar technologies in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy.
Guidelight controls how the information you intentionally submit through our signature form is used for the open letter. Google processes and stores that information as a service provider. If you are signed into a Google account while using the form, Google may also process information associated with your account under its own policies.
How We Use Information
We may use the information described above to:
- Operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Site
- Understand general Site traffic and usage
- Review, verify, administer, and publish eligible signatures
- Communicate with you about your submission
- Correct or remove signatory information at your request
- Respond to questions and other communications
- Prevent misuse, fraud, or security incidents
- Comply with applicable law and protect our legal rights
We do not use information collected through the Site or signature form for advertising or unrelated marketing. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Cookies and Tracking
The Site does not use cookies, advertising pixels, session-replay technologies, or cross-site behavioral tracking. Vercel Web Analytics operates without cookies.
Other websites and services that you choose to visit from the Site, including Google Forms, may use cookies or similar technologies under their own policies.
How We Share Information
We may share information in the following circumstances:
- With service providers: We use Vercel to host and analyze use of the Site and Google to host and store the signature form and its responses. These providers process information in connection with the services they provide to us.
- With the public: If your signature is accepted, we publish the information identified as public, as described above.
- For legal and safety reasons: We may disclose information if reasonably necessary to comply with law, legal process, or a valid governmental request; protect the rights, property, or safety of Guidelight or others; or investigate fraud, misuse, or security issues.
- With your direction or consent: We may share information in another manner when you ask us to do so or give us permission.
Data Retention
We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including administering and maintaining an accurate record of the open letter, responding to requests, protecting the Site, and complying with legal obligations.
Public signatory information may remain displayed for as long as the open letter remains published, unless you ask us to remove it. Non-public submission information, such as an email address, may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to verify and administer the signature and maintain an appropriate record of the letter.
If you request deletion, we will delete or deidentify information that we no longer need, subject to applicable legal requirements and legitimate needs such as preventing fraud, resolving disputes, or maintaining security. Residual copies may remain temporarily in routine backups until they are overwritten.
Analytics and technical information is retained in accordance with our applicable Vercel settings and Vercel's retention practices.
Your Choices and Rights
You may contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information that we maintain about you. You may also ask us to remove or correct your publicly displayed signature.
Depending on where you live, applicable law may provide additional rights, such as the right to object to or restrict certain processing or to receive a portable copy of information you provided. We will respond to requests as required by applicable law. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.
Removing a signature from the Site does not remove copies previously made or published by third parties.
International Processing
Guidelight and its service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Those countries may have data-protection laws that differ from the laws where you live. Where applicable law requires safeguards for an international transfer, we will rely on appropriate safeguards provided by law or by our service-provider agreements.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children's Privacy
The signature process is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has submitted personal information through the form, please contact us so that we can review and, where appropriate, delete it.
Links to Other Websites
The Site may link to websites and services that we do not operate. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, and we encourage you to review those policies before providing information.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we do, we will post the updated policy on this page and revise the "Last updated" date. If a change materially affects how we use existing signatory information, we will take reasonable steps to provide additional notice when appropriate.
